Summary: Salt Lake County is seeking a GIS Intern to assist in maintaining the accuracy and quality of GIS information. The role involves performing spatial queries, converting spatial data, and integrating multiple databases for analytical purposes. Responsibilities: - Performs basic spatial, SQL, and tabular queries - Converts and geo-references spatial data from one coordinate system to another, using basic geodetic principles - Uses software, hardware, and tools to integrate multiple databases from a variety of sources, including aerial photography for analytical purposes - May collect field data using GPS or other equipment as needed Required Qualifications: - Assists in maintaining the accuracy and quality of GIS information to support the Division's functions, processes, and analytical requirements - Performs basic spatial, SQL, and tabular queries - Converts and geo-references spatial data from one coordinate system to another, using basic geodetic principles - Uses software, hardware, and tools to integrate multiple databases from a variety of sources, including aerial photography for analytical purposes - May collect field data using GPS or other equipment as needed - Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing - Think logically and systematically - Solve complex problems - Effectively apply general principles to specific conditions - Analyze business and technical processes and determine ways of making them more efficient - Maintain confidentiality and professionalism Required Skills: GIS, SQL Important Skills: GPS, Spatial Data Conversion Nice-to-Have Skills: Analytical Skills
