Engineering Summer Internship at Salient Motion in Torrance, CA

Summary: Salient Motion is building a modular motion and actuation platform that is redefining how aerospace, defense, and industrial systems are designed, built, and deployed. As an Engineering Intern, you will work directly with the engineering team on mechanical, electrical, software, and systems level work, gaining real responsibility and exposure to production hardware. Responsibilities: - Support the design, build, and test of electro mechanical systems and subassemblies - Assist with prototyping, assembly, and hands on lab and shop work - Help execute engineering tests, collect data, and document results - Support manufacturing and supplier related activities including part preparation and validation - Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering and documentation processes - Work closely with senior engineers and program leaders on active customer programs Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field - Strong curiosity and willingness to learn across disciplines - Comfortable working with hardware and tools in a lab or shop environment - Ability to take direction, execute quickly, and follow through - Clear communicator who can document work and ask thoughtful questions Preferred Qualifications: - Prior hands on experience through projects, labs, clubs, internships, or personal builds is a plus Required Skills: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Hardware prototyping, Electromechanical systems design, Assembly, Engineering testing, Data collection, Manufacturing support, Supplier validation, Curiosity, take direction, Execution, Follow through
