Intern – Process Engineer- Greenville, SC at S&B in Greenville, SC

Summary: S&B is an exceptional full-service Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company, and they are seeking a Process Engineering Intern to assist with routine assignments under close supervision. The intern will conduct field trips to gather data, prepare specifications, evaluate vendor bids, and participate in plant start-ups while collaborating within a multi-discipline team. Responsibilities: - Conducts field trips to existing plants to gather operating data and equipment information - Gathers data to help prepare equipment specifications, inquiry and purchase requisitions for approval - Evaluates vendors' bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications for simple equipment and specialty items - Participates in the preparation of equipment lists, piping line lists and specialty item lists - Participates in preparation of design guides, guide specifications and contract proposals - Participates in plant Start-ups Required Qualifications: - Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering - Internship classification normally requires completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering - Must possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals - Ability to write routine reports and correspondence - Ability to speak effectively before clients or employees of the organization - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry - Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations - Occasionally may conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site - This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus - Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required - Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise - Occasionally may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at a construction site - This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, and work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles Preferred Qualifications: - Previous internship experience is preferred, but not required Required Skills: Chemical Engineering Important Skills: Data Analysis, Equipment Specifications Nice-to-Have Skills: Report Writing Benefits: Competitive compensation package, Flexible and hybrid work schedules, Comprehensive benefits program
