Job Description
Summary: RTX is a leader in aerospace and defense, offering internships that provide an exceptional foundation to work on complex problems. The Software Engineering Intern will engage in a focused project, develop innovative technology, and collaborate with experienced engineers in a highly dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Work on a focused project to teach you the fundamentals of the software development lifecycle and give you an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution
- Develop new and innovative technology in an agile environment that solves interesting problems
- Collaborate with the brightest technical minds in building software products while leveraging advanced technology, researching groundbreaking concepts, and influencing new ideas to transform the aviation ecosystem
- Learn alongside our industry’s most talented engineers and receive focused mentorship and guidance
- Attend daily team standup meetings and have regular one-on-one check-ins with your leader and mentor
Required Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
Preferred Qualifications:
- Academic and/or prior work experience with programming languages, including functional languages
- Completed coursework in core computer science concepts such as object-oriented design, algorithm design, data structures, problem-solving, and complexity analysis
- An obsession with writing elegant, high-quality, well-tested code; ideally languages such as Rust, Go, & Python
- Ability to analyze complex issues, reason, think critically, and synthesize information
- Flexible mindset and demonstrated ability to grow skillset and work across a robust and varied technology stack
