Job Description
Summary: RTX is a company dedicated to helping the nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression through innovative engineering solutions. They are seeking a Software Developer Engineer I to join an agile development team, focusing on designing, developing, and testing software features for high-fidelity simulations that support the Department of Defense.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate as a member of an agile development team
- Design, Develop, Review and Test new software features in an all-digital distributed simulation environment
- Implement APIs and integration external high-fidelity digital simulation software into Raytheon’s Air Dominance Testbed and Air Combat Evaluation Model®
- Provide direct Warfighter support by developing software used to inform operator tactics and procedures
- Work with Subject Matter Experts to verify and validate digital simulation performance
- Work cross-domain to develop medium-fidelity physics models of conceptual missile systems
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field (including computer science)
- Experience with at least one object oriented programming language (Python, C++, Java, C#, etc)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specific majors: Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering
- Cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0
- Coursework, internship, projects or work experience in the following areas: Simulation modeling, development, and/or analysis of physical systems
- Agile development methodologies
- Probability and statistics
- Software development processes and object-oriented design using and/or Python in either Unix or Linux computing environments
- Software Configuration Management tools and processes (git, subversion, mercurial)
- Computation on high-performance computing (HPC) grids/clusters, SLURM
- Distributed simulation communication standards (DIS, TENA, HLA)
- DevOps tools, processes, and methods
- Demonstrated ability in the following areas: Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with peers, customers, management, and functional partners (IT, Cyber Security, Security)
- Creation and presentation of effective technical reports in PowerPoint and Document form
- Prior experience with classified material
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance
