Job Description
Summary: RTX is a leading aerospace and defense company that focuses on helping the nation and allies defend freedoms. They are seeking a Kill Chain Software Developer Intern for Summer 2026, where you will participate in an agile development team, design and develop software features, and provide support to the Warfighter by developing software for military tactics and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate as a member of an agile development team
- Design, Develop, Review and Test new software features in an all-digital distributed simulation environment
- Work closely with senior developers to implement APIs and integration external high-fidelity digital simulation software into Raytheon’s Air Dominance Testbed and Air Combat Evaluation Model®
- Provide direct Warfighter support by developing software used to inform operator tactics and procedures
- Work with Subject Matter Experts to verify and validate digital simulation performance
- Work cross-domain to develop medium-fidelity physics models of conceptual missile systems
- Expand your knowledge base in various software and system components to be able to support a wide variety of software development tasks
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program and will be a Senior or Post Graduate standing level by the start of Summer 2026
- Experience with at least one object oriented programming language (Python, C++, Java, C#, etc)
- Experience with Linux and Linux command line
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Active and existing security clearance required after day 1
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0
- Coursework, internship, projects or work experience in the following areas: Simulation modeling, development, and/or analysis of physical systems
- Agile development methodologies
- Probability and statistics
- Software development processes and object-oriented design using and/or Python in either Unix or Linux computing environments
- Software Configuration Management tools and processes (git, subversion, mercurial)
- Computation on high-performance computing (HPC) grids/clusters, SLURM
- Distributed simulation communication standards (DIS, TENA, HLA)
- DevOps tools, processes, and methods
- Demonstrated ability in the following areas: Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with peers, customers, management, and functional partners (IT, Cyber Security, Security)
- Creation and presentation of effective technical reports in PowerPoint and Document form
