Job Description
Summary: Raytheon is the world's largest aerospace and defense company, dedicated to solving complex problems and enhancing national security. They are seeking a Software Engineer I to develop software for aerospace and defense applications, ensuring robust functionality and collaboration with engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain software for aerospace and defense applications, ensuring robust functionality and reliability
- Implement, test, and debug software solutions to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards
- Collaborate with systems engineering, hardware engineering, and other teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal system performance
- Participate in code reviews, testing procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software quality and development processes
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues in a timely manner
- Document software designs, test results, and troubleshooting processes for future reference
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (STEM)
- This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java
- Experience in software development life cycles, including Agile methodologies
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of DevOps and DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and secure software development methodologies
- Experience leveraging Generative AI and Machine Learning to improve productivity, collaboration, and performance
- Familiarity with real-time embedded systems or aerospace/defense applications
- Experience with version control tools such as Git
- Exposure to Open Systems Architectures and modular design principles
- Exposure to cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices
- Experience with software testing and debugging tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
