Job Description
Summary: Rolls-Royce is a leading brand in innovation and engineering, seeking a Materials Applications Engineer to serve as a primary materials point of contact for Engine Programs. The role involves leading the development of materials and processes, providing expertise on materials design, and participating in failure investigations while collaborating with multiple teams.
Responsibilities:
- Interacts with multiple customers within Project, Mechanical Integrity, Design, and Purchasing. Provides recommendations on selection of materials and coatings, generation and use of materials data, and methods of manufacture. Applies holistic engine design principles to selection of materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes
- Manages conflicting demands and customer expectations to deliver materials support on time and on budget
- Reviews and approves engineering drawings and change documents
- Acts as a point of contact within Materials Engineering and shares subject matter knowledge and best practice across the function and with internal customers
- Contributes to the development of specifications and standards
- Contributes to product lifing statements and critical part life management plan activities through review and documentation of material condition, manufacturing methods and records, and in-service inspection records
- Identifies, promotes and embeds continuous improvement within the immediate team and across the wider function and stakeholder landscape
- Leads and/or supports failure investigations and reporting findings
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering with 1+ years of experience OR
- Masters Degree in Engineering OR
- JD/PhD
- In order to be considered for this role you must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy Degree
- 3+ years experience in related Materials engineering roles
- Understanding of Intellectual Property and Export Control requirements
