Position Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer I supports supplier quality activities by helping communicate and apply the requirements outlined in the HydraForce Supplier Quality Assurance Manual. Under guidance from senior quality and supplier quality team members, this role assists with supplier quality monitoring, corrective action follow‑up, and quality deliverables to ensure conformance with established standards and specifications.
This position provides hands‑on exposure to supplier quality assurance processes, cross‑functional collaboration, and continuous improvement efforts while developing foundational Supplier Quality Engineering skills.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the communication and application of the HydraForce Supplier Quality Assurance Manual requirements internally and with suppliers
Support the Purchasing team in identifying, qualifying, and developing new and existing suppliers to meet quality expectations
Help monitor supplier performance metrics related to quality, delivery, cost, and impact and assist in preparing monthly supplier scorecards
Participate in regular follow‑up activities with suppliers to support improvements in quality performance
Support Project Engineering during program review meetings by assisting with data preparation and documentation
Assist with the preparation and review of PPAP documentation, including dimensional verification, process flow diagrams, control plans, FMEAs, MSA, and material certifications, in accordance with the Quality Management System
Support PPAP submission reviews and run‑at‑rate activities under guidance from senior team members
Communicate feedback to suppliers regarding PPAP gaps or non‑conformances with oversight
Assist internal teams and suppliers in addressing quality issues related to cost, efficiency, process capability, warranty, and delivery performance
Support supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) efforts during new product launches in coordination with Engineering and Program Management
Collect and share supplier process data to support quality improvements and manufacturing efficiency
Assist with internal APQP activities by representing supplier‑related data and insights
Provide input to internal stakeholders to support Design for Manufacturing initiatives based on quality data such as NCMRs, RMAs, and shop floor findings
Perform other quality‑related duties as assigned

qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
Experience & Knowledge
2 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, supplier quality, or a related internship/co‑op experience
Basic understanding or exposure to APQP, PPAP, control plans, FMEA, and quality documentation
Familiarity with quality tools such as root cause analysis, corrective actions, and basic statistical concepts preferred
Exposure to ERP or quality systems preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Willingness to learn quality systems, supplier processes, and manufacturing methods
Good organizational and time‑management skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Proactive learning mindset and openness to feedback
Additional Requirements
Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier visits, as required
Willingness to spend time in both an office environment and on the shop floor
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move a minimum of 5 pounds without assistance
Work Environment
Primarily office‑based with regular interaction on the shop floor
Noise levels may range from quiet to loud depending on manufacturing activity
