Job Description
Summary: Rivian is an automotive company focused on electric vehicles, and they are seeking a Process Engineering Technician for their R2 Body team. The role involves supporting production processes, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating with Process Engineers to address quality and process concerns.
Responsibilities:
- Design change coordination
- Assist in new trials of supplier parts or materials and modifications necessary
- Walk back quality issues from downstream shops to Body
- Set up and run containment with Body Ops on non-conforming components
- Manage PCD containments in designated area
- Work with Process Engineers in validating poka-yokes for high-risk quality items in designated area
- Perform root cause analysis on issues related to body processes
- Test, evaluate, and investigate quality and process concerns
- Work directly with area Process engineers and group leaders for continuous improvement projects
- Evaluate new products and processes to solve consistent issues and identify cost savings
- Support production processes as needed in the designated area
- Interact with downstream customers as a first point of contact and face of Body PE
- Support Process engineers in mechanical adjustments & dimensional moves
- Follow through with cross-functional teams on the completion of small fabrication & machining projects
- Assist in training operations on process changes as necessary to ensure line stability
- Must be shift flexible
Required Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and comfortable using small hand tools (ratchet, Allen wrench, etc.)
- Ability to maintain professional attitude in all situations
- Willingness to learn and continue to develop additional skills as needed in role
- Currently a technician or in current role, current area for 6 months
- 1 year at Rivian or equivalent prior manufacturing experience
- Work autonomously, self-directed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous GMAW welding experience and fabrication of small parts is a plus
- Associate's degree or technical trades education preferred
- Google Sheets, Docs and Slides experience
