Job Description
Summary: RiverView Health is a community-owned non-profit organization that operates a critical access hospital and various healthcare services in Crookston, MN. They are seeking a Supply Chain / Coverage Specialist to ensure the efficient flow of medical supplies and materials, providing essential coverage for various functions during staff absences or increased workloads.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick, stage, and deliver medical supplies to various departments based on established par levels and requisitions
- Ensure proper rotation of stock (FIFO - First In, First Out) to minimize waste and ensure product freshness
- Monitor and replenish supply carts and storage areas, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained at all times
- Regularly check expiration dates on all products and remove/quarantine expired items according to established procedures
- Maintain accurate records of supplies distributed, discrepancies, and returns
- Keep supply rooms and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
- Identify and report any discrepancies, shortages, or issues with supply levels or product quality to the appropriate supervisor
- Safely and efficiently transport medical supplies, equipment, mail, lab specimens, and other items between various departments, off-site locations, and external partners
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to ensure timely and effective service
- Operate company vehicles (if applicable) in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Maintain cleanliness and perform routine checks of the vehicle
- Accurately log all pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring proper chain of custody for sensitive items (e.g., specimens)
- Interact professionally and courteously with all staff, patients, and external contacts
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the handling of hazardous materials and universal precautions. Ensure the security of transported items
- Assist with the transport of medical equipment as needed, following proper handling procedures
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and cover various shifts as needed, sometimes with short notice
- Participate in cross-training to competently perform both Pick for Par and Courier duties
- Maintain clear and effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and internal/external customers
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., JCAHO, HIPAA, OSHA)
- Collaborate effectively with the Supply Chain team and other departments to ensure seamless operations
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to a culture of efficiency and excellence
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a Customer Service, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Inventory Management, or Logistics role, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Ability to work flexible part-time hours
- Valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Any experience with medical supplies and equipment
- 1+ years' healthcare or hospital supply chain experience
- Prior courier or delivery experience
