Job Description
Overview:
The Cell Modelling Engineer participates as a team player in performing multi-physics based battery aging modelling. The model developed will serve as the basis for age-aware operation of cells in BESS conditions, residual life assessment, and customer warranty claims.
This role reports to the Lead - Cell Design and collaborates closely with Testing and R&D teams for model validation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Model Development
- Multi-Physics Modelling: Construct multi-physics models for battery design optimization.
- Thermal Modelling: Develop models for thermal predictions of batteries.
- Aging Model Support: Support the development of aging models to enable age-aware operation of cells in BESS conditions, residual life assessment, and warranty claim evaluation.
2. Model Validation
- Experimental Validation: Perform experiments to validate models against actual cell behavior and performance data.
- Correlation Analysis: Correlate simulation outputs with test data to refine and improve model accuracy.
3. External Collaboration
- External Lab Support: Support modelling-related activities performed at external labs and with academic/research partners.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate with Cell Design, R&D, and Testing teams to ensure model inputs and validation data are aligned with real-world cell performance.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, with working knowledge of batteries.
Location:
Based out of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in cell multi-physics modelling.
- Hands-on experience in battery-related modelling and simulation.
- Good knowledge of electrochemical system modelling.
- Experience in battery testing for model validation.
Skills & Competencies:
- Expertise in CFD packages such as COMSOL or GT-SUITE; working knowledge of MATLAB preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrochemical and thermal behavior of lithium-ion cells.
- Ability to validate models experimentally and interpret correlation with test data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Good technical documentation and reporting skills.
