As the Athlete Marketing Manager, you will develop and execute athlete-led marketing strategies and promotional campaigns across multiple sports and disciplines to strengthen Red Bull’s brand positioning, increase consumer engagement and drive product relevance across key sporting audiences.
Working closely with professional athletes, media partners and cross-functional teams, you will identify emerging athlete talent and market opportunities, develop impactful marketing initiatives and deliver innovative campaigns, activations and media projects that inspire consumers and reinforce Red Bull’s position as a leader in sport and energy.
From concept development through to execution and evaluation, you’ll leverage athlete partnerships, storytelling initiatives and promotional campaigns to create meaningful audience engagement and elevate Red Bull’s presence across New Zealand’s sporting landscape.
This is a full-time Auckland-based role, working a minimum of 40 hours per week. The role requires occasional domestic and international travel.

STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITY FOR NATIONAL ATHLETE PROGRAM
• Develop and manage a diverse athlete portfolio aligned with Red Bull’s marketing, promotional and brand engagement objectives across multiple sports and disciplines.
• Develop the Athlete Marketing Strategy focusing on short- and long-term goals aligned to Sports & Red Bull Media Network strategic priorities.
• Identify emerging athlete talent and market opportunities aligned with Red Bull’s target audiences, brand positioning and consumer engagement strategies.
• Develop strategic partnerships across New Zealand’s sports industry to identify market trends, promotional opportunities and audience engagement initiatives.
• Leverage athlete partnerships and promotional campaigns to increase brand awareness, product visibility and consumer engagement.
• Collaborate with Red Bull Media House to develop innovative marketing initiatives and media projects that maximise audience reach and exposure.
• Analyse audience engagement, campaign performance and market trends to optimise athlete marketing strategies and promotional initiatives.
• Develop and manage ideation sessions with athletes and stakeholders to identify marketing, activation and promotional opportunities.
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR NATIONAL ATHLETE PROGRAM
• Develop and manage athlete partnership and promotional plans designed to maximise campaign effectiveness, audience engagement, product promotion and brand exposure.
• Build strong relationships with athletes and stakeholders to deliver effective marketing initiatives, promotional campaigns and brand engagement outcomes.
• Coordinate athlete participation in campaigns, activations, media opportunities and promotional initiatives to maximise audience engagement and brand exposure.
• Support management of athlete partnership agreements, branding initiatives, product integration and promotional event participation aligned with marketing objectives.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure athlete integration across owned and third-party events, campaigns and brand initiatives.
• Lead athlete partnership reviews and campaign planning sessions to optimise marketing outcomes, promotional effectiveness and brand impact.
MAXIMISING IMPACT THROUGH ATHLETE & MEDIA PROJECTS
• Lead athlete-led marketing campaigns, promotional projects and brand activations from concept development through to execution and evaluation.
• Develop and amplify athlete-led storytelling, marketing content and promotional campaigns across Red Bull and media channels to strengthen brand positioning and consumer engagement.
• Develop integrated activation and promotional campaign plans to increase audience engagement, product relevance and brand visibility through athlete-led initiatives.
• Coordinate campaign production activities including content development, media planning and promotional execution within agreed budgets and timelines.
• Collaborate with the Red Bull Media Network team to deliver innovative athlete marketing initiatives and maximise consumer impact through the Red Bull Marketing Mix.
• Build strong collaboration and athlete synergies with other Red Bull markets where relevant.
ADMINISTRATION, REPORTING AND BUDGETING
• Manage athlete-related marketing administration including campaign planning, calendars, budgets and reporting requirements.
• Support preparation and management of budgets relating to athlete marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns.
• Track KPIs, campaign performance, audience engagement and consumer insights to optimise marketing strategies and promotional effectiveness.
• Monitor campaign analytics, market trends and consumer engagement insights to support future promotional planning and business decision-making.
• Ensure high standards of professionalism, efficiency, creativity and compliance across all athlete marketing initiatives.
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT AND NEGOTIATION
• Develop strategic relationships with athletes, agencies, media organisations and commercial stakeholders to support marketing objectives and promotional opportunities.
• Support athlete partnership negotiations to ensure alignment with brand positioning, promotional objectives and commercial outcomes.
• Travel to key sporting scenes and events to build networks, identify emerging talent and strengthen Red Bull’s relevance within target sports communities.
• Collaborate with local and international stakeholders to support the development of strong athlete marketing and communication initiatives.
qualifications
• Minimum five years’ experience in sports marketing, brand marketing, advertising or a related field; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related discipline together with proven experience working with professional athletes, athlete partnerships or sports-related marketing initiatives.
• Ability to undertake domestic and international travel as required for athlete marketing initiatives, campaigns, activations and events.
• Experience leading individuals or cross-functional teams, including the ability to lead, inspire and engage stakeholders.
• Preferred – Established network within the sports industry across athletes, agents, coaches, professional sporting teams, federations and sporting media.
• Strong understanding of the marketing mix, including developing and managing projects, delivering activations and leveraging relationships for brand outcomes.
• Strong understanding of the media landscape across all platforms, including developing marketing plans aligned to content creation and channel engagement strategies.
• Strong understanding of sports marketing, promotional campaigns and consumer engagement strategies.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Strong understanding of marketing and media platforms including digital, social, broadcast and live event channels.
• Ability to analyse athlete marketing opportunities using consumer insights, analytics and brand alignment considerations.
• Highly organised, innovative and proactive with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
