Summary: Raytheon is a leader in aerospace and defense, seeking an early career Mechanical Engineer for their Airborne Radar Design Department in El Segundo, CA. The role involves mechanical design and electronics packaging for airborne radar subsystems, providing technical support, developing design concepts, and ensuring compliance with established procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support on major programs and interface with Lead Mechanical Engineers and Chief Engineers to support design objectives
- Contribute to project teams through design development and ensure that established procedures are followed in the creation of technical data packages, while meeting program design objectives
- Work from requirements to help develop unit design concepts and perform design trades. Contribute to developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems
- Complete detailed layouts and design documentation using Computer Aided Design tools
- Provide support to suppliers who fabricate components and assemblies
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or (STEM) field obtained prior to start
- Experience with ANSI drawing standards
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances)
- Experience with electronic packaging
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Active and existing security clearance required after day 1
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with CREO or similar 3D solid modeling software
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances)
- Exposure to RF principles, RF circuit card design, RF materials, manufacturing and producibility
- Exposure to high-frequency environments, enclosure design, EMI shielding, cable design and thermal management
- Exposure to manufacturing processes for CCAs, metal housings, and brazements, or experience in manufacturing and assembly support
- Strong technical background with high technical aptitude
- Hands-on mechanical project experience
- Current DoD security clearance
