POSITION SUMMARY The Culinary Arts Instructor is responsible for providing both classroom and hands-on culinary instruction while preparing students for successful careers in the culinary and hospitality industries. This role combines professional cooking experience with education, leadership, and mentorship in a dynamic learning environment. The successful candidate will teach students proper food preparation techniques, kitchen safety, sanitation practices, menu planning, and professional culinary skills while maintaining a safe, organized, and productive kitchen. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide classroom and hands-on instruction in culinary arts. • Demonstrate professional cooking techniques and food preparation methods. • Prepare and cook a variety of meals while teaching proper culinary procedures. • Develop lesson plans and practical culinary training exercises. • Evaluate student performance and provide coaching and constructive feedback. • Teach proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety procedures. • Ensure compliance with all health and food safety regulations. • Maintain inventory and assist with ordering kitchen supplies. • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. • Encourage professionalism, teamwork, and student success. • Stay current with culinary trends, techniques, and industry best practices. REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma or GED. • Professional experience working as a Cook, Chef, Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or in a related culinary position. • Experience training, mentoring, or supervising others in a kitchen environment. • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and commercial kitchen operations. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Culinary degree or formal culinary training. • Previous teaching or instructional experience. • Current ServSafe Certification (or equivalent). • Experience working with diverse student populations. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Passion for mentoring and developing future culinary professionals.
