Shift Leader at R. H. Foster Energy in Machias, ME

Summary: R. H. Foster Energy operates Freshies, a customer-focused retail and food service environment that values community, teamwork, and employee growth. The Shift Leader is responsible for leading daily store operations, supporting team members, delivering excellent customer service, operating the POS system, maintaining store standards, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly, fast, and accurate customer service
- Lead, coach, and support team members during shifts
- Operate POS system / cash register (cash, credit cards, EBT, prepaid cards, lottery, checks)
- Follow all cash handling procedures and company policies
- Ensure compliance with alcohol, tobacco, lottery, fuel, and food safety regulations
- Support deli operations and assist with food preparation as needed
- Maintain store standards including stocking, merchandising, cleanliness, and organization
- Promote a safe, secure, and organized work environment
- Assist with loss prevention, safety, and security procedures
- Work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and closing shifts

Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, food service, or convenience store operations
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math and computer/POS skills
- Reliable attendance and flexible availability
- TankSmart Certification (Level C) – training provided

Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
