Overview
Location: Quincy, ILPay Range: $17.77 – $26.66 per hour | Based on Relevant ExperienceSchedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (some variability for case needs)
**About the Role:**Join our Surgery team as a Sterilization Technician. You’ll clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments so our care teams can work safely and on time. This role is hands-on, detail-focused, and essential to patient safety.
Primary Responsibilities:• Receive and sort used instruments; follow safe handling and infection-control steps.• Clean and decontaminate instruments using sinks, ultrasonic cleaners, and washers.• Inspect for damage; assemble trays and wrap/package items correctly.• Run sterilizers (steam/autoclave and low-temperature systems); load, monitor, and unload safely.• Use and document biological and chemical indicators; maintain logs and release records.• Build and stage case carts; deliver the right trays to the right procedure rooms.• Track inventory and PAR levels; manage loaner/consignment trays with vendors.• Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance; report issues promptly.• Follow regulatory standards (AAMI, AORN, The Joint Commission) and QMG policies.• Keep the department clean, organized, and labeled; support continuous quality checks.• Work closely with OR/clinic staff to solve issues and keep cases on schedule.

Qualifications:• High school diploma or GED required.• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrument names, and basic surgical sets a plus.• Able to stand for long periods and lift/push 25–50 lbs safely.• Strong attention to detail, time management, and teamwork; basic computer skills for tracking and documentation.
