Engineering Intern (Summer 2026) at Quantum Space in Rockville, MD

Summary: Quantum Space is redefining mobility and autonomy beyond Earth orbit. We are seeking Engineering Interns to support our spacecraft development programs during Summer 2026, where interns will work directly with engineers and contribute to real hardware development across multiple engineering disciplines. Responsibilities: - Support mechanical design, documentation, and hardware development - Create CAD models and maintain component libraries - Assist with fabrication, assembly, and mechanical testing - Develop work instructions and support manufacturing processes - Assist with development of electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) - Support hardware testing and integration of development units - Build and test breadboard electronics and prototype circuits - Assist with embedded systems development (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.) - Assist with propulsion system testing and laboratory setup - Support data collection and updates to engineering analyses - Help prepare and execute component and subsystem tests Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field - Must have completed sophomore year (rising junior or senior) by Summer 2026 - Strong interest in spacecraft systems or aerospace engineering - Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment - Strong problem-solving and communication skills - To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual per 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) - Hands-on hardware experience (fabrication, testing, prototyping, robotics, etc.) - Experience with electronics, circuits, or embedded systems - Programming experience (Python, C/C++, MATLAB, etc.) - Participation in engineering teams, research labs, or technical clubs Required Skills: CAD tools, hardware testing, embedded systems Important Skills: programming Python, programming C/C++, programming MATLAB, hands-on hardware experience Nice-to-Have Skills: team participation Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer
