Job Description
Summary: PulteGroup is one of the nation’s largest and most respected homebuilders, dedicated to building inspired employees and meaningful careers. The Software/AI Engineer Internship offers a unique opportunity to work on intelligent automation and coding assistance, contributing to the design and development of AI systems that enhance developer productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively to design, integrate, and evaluate AI Coding Assistants powered by LLMs (such as GPT, Claude, or custom models) with the goal of automating code generation, code review, testing, and enhancing developer productivity
- Design, implement, and benchmark agentic AI workflows where autonomous software agents perform multi-step reasoning, orchestration, and interaction with APIs, databases, and cloud services
- Experiment with frameworks like LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar tools for LLM orchestration and automating agent behaviors
- Develop and refine prompt engineering strategies to optimize LLM performance for specific coding, review, testing, documentation, or workflow automation tasks
- Learn how to differentiate between AI-generated content and real, valuable, and accurate information
- Support R&D and deployment of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, knowledge base integration, and multi-agent systems
- Document design decisions, experimental results, and best practices for the integration and evaluation of LLM-based tools
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have authorization to work in the United States
- Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at the time of application, or must have graduated in the semester immediately preceding the start of the internship
- Minimum of sophomore status. Rising juniors, rising seniors, or graduate students preferred
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at time of application or graduation preferred
- Curious and coachable, personable, and patient, action-oriented and accountable
- Motivated and enthusiastic about doing great work
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong tech-savvy competency; experience with Excel and Microsoft Teams specifically
- Strong organization skills, self-motivation, and learning agility to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Bias for action and desire to make a meaningful difference alongside our current teammates
- Strong interest in the homebuilding, real estate, and/or construction industry as a preferred career field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of sophomore status. Rising juniors, rising seniors, or graduate students preferred
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at time of application or graduation preferred
- Added plus: students involved in extracurricular activities outside their curriculum responsibilities (i.e., student organizations, leadership roles, student athletes, NAHB student competition, etc.)
