Job Description
Summary: PTC Therapeutics is a global commercial biopharmaceutical company dedicated to improving the lives of those with rare diseases. They are seeking a Research Associate II to join their Multiomics team, where the successful candidate will execute and analyze experimental results in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment (e.g. LC-MS/MS, ELISA, liquid handlers)
- Execute sample preparation and enrichment protocols for multiple sample types (e.g. plasma, CSF, tissues, and cells) to enable downstream multiomic analyses
- Prepares buffers, stocks, and standards according to SOP’s to perform routine system suitability checks
- Analyzes data, QC’s peer data, documents results, and presents findings to the Multiomics team
- Tracks daily progress in Agile software to provide real-time updates for project stakeholders
- Abides by all safety and regulatory guidelines. Maintains a detailed laboratory notebook
- Demonstrates compliance with corporate, department, and job-specific requirements
- Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management
Required Qualifications:
- 1 – 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with a strong preference for prior LC-MS/MS experience
- Proficient with standard laboratory equipment (e.g. pipettes, centrifuges, balances, and homogenizers)
- Experience operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation
- Prior use of sample preparation techniques for the extraction and quantitation of small molecules, peptides, or proteins from biofluids and tissues
- Familiarity with bioanalytical software applications (e.g. Analyst, Excel, or Prism)
- Detail-oriented worker with superb organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communicator with a positive attitude
- Ability to multitask and respond quickly to shifting priorities while adhering to project timelines
- Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience
- B.S. degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field with at least 1-2 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses or certificates preferred
- Familiarity with sample processing for downstream proteomics or biomarker analysis is preferred
- Prior experience with liquid robotic handlers is a plus
