Job Description
Are you a technical writer who enjoys transforming complex technical concepts into clear, organized documentation? Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Writer III to support the modernization and complete rewrite of a large-scale .NET enterprise application. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in a high-profile digital transformation initiative by creating and maintaining the documentation that enables successful software development, implementation, and long-term support.
You'll partner with software developers, business analysts, QA testers, project managers, and business stakeholders to ensure technical and business documentation is accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational governance standards.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for enterprise software modernization projects.
- Create architecture diagrams, API documentation, data dictionaries, entity relationship diagrams (ERDs), and system configuration guides.
- Document current-state and future-state business processes, workflows, system integrations, automated jobs, intake processes, and billing flows.
- Produce user guides, quick reference materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), release documentation, and training materials.
- Build and maintain documentation templates, standards, libraries, and version-controlled documentation repositories.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA teams, and project leadership to ensure documentation reflects evolving system requirements.
- Review technical and business documentation for quality, consistency, and accuracy.
- Identify documentation gaps and recommend process improvements and standardization opportunities.
- Support documentation planning, scheduling, estimation, and prioritization across multiple application teams.
- Track documentation-related issues, risks, and action items throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote documentation best practices and educate technical and business teams on documentation standards.
- Work closely with state personnel and business users to ensure documentation supports business objectives and user adoption.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technology-focused field.
- Approximately 5+ years of technical writing experience supporting enterprise software projects.
- Experience documenting:

- Business processes

- Experience creating:
- Technical documentation

- Data dictionaries
- ERDs
- Configuration documentation
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Excellent written communication, organization, and documentation management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
