Summary: Princeton University is seeking applicants for a Research Specialist position in their Department of Molecular Biology to study host responses to human hepatotropic infections. The successful candidate will design and perform experiments focusing on analysis in humanized mouse models. Responsibilities: - Laboratory rodent care and handling - Maintaining and breeding of transgenic mouse colonies - Rodent survival surgeries - In vivo luminescence imaging - Quantification of pathogen load - Tissue culture and lab maintenance work Required Qualifications: - A strong background in science and a bachelor's degree is required - Math and computer proficiency, along with meticulous record keeping is required - Must be highly motivated, highly organized, a team player, able to work independently, and must have excellent written and oral communication skills - The finalist will be required to pass a background check Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience with animal model systems and/or mammalian tissue culture is preferred but not necessary - A strong background in molecular biology, immunology and/or virology is highly desirable along with the ability to perform advanced mouse work, including colony management, genotyping and rodent surgical procedures - Knowledge of mammalian cell culture and mouse genetics is a plus Required Skills: Laboratory rodent care, Molecular biology, Immunology, Virology Important Skills: vivo study experience, Tissue culture, Mouse genetics Nice-to-Have Skills: Math proficiency, Computer proficiency, Record keeping, Team player, communication Benefits: Comprehensive benefit program
