Job Description
Summary: Princeton University is seeking a motivated and organized Research Specialist to join Dr. Ai Ing Lim’s laboratory. The role focuses on supporting ongoing research projects, learning core experimental techniques, and eventually conducting experiments independently while contributing to data analysis and figure preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform mouse handling, colony maintenance, and monitoring
- Assist with and, after training, independently conduct animal experiments
- Collect and process samples from animal studies
- Perform laboratory techniques including tissue dissection, cell isolation, flow cytometry, cell culture, sequencing, and imaging
- After training, independently plan and execute experiments with guidance
- Document experimental procedures and results
- Analyze data and generate figures
- Contribute to lab meetings, presentations, and manuscripts
- Assist with lab organization, ordering, and maintaining supplies
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or a closely related field
- At least one year of hands-on experience in a biology research laboratory; substantial, self-driven undergraduate thesis research experience will also be considered
- Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and progressively carry out experiments independently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to plan and coordinate experimental work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with mouse models is preferred
