SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Full-Time | Optimal Living Senior Community | Raleigh, North Carolina

Prava Therapy

THERAPY THAT HELPS PEOPLE KEEP LIVING LIFE ON THEIR TERMS.

Prava Therapy is seeking a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team within a premier, luxury resort-style senior living community in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This community emphasizes an "Optimal Living" philosophy—focusing on an active lifestyle, holistic wellness, lifelong learning, resort-style amenities, and continuous engagement. Residents value independence, connection, health, and maintaining an active, fulfilling life.

You'll get to know your residents, their routines, and the activities that matter most to them.

YOUR ROLE

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you'll provide skilled clinical care addressing the complete scope of adult and geriatric speech-language pathology while becoming a trusted partner within this vibrant community.

You'll:

• Perform comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized, evidence-based plans of care across all adult/geriatric SLP domains.
• Assess and treat disorders in cognitive-communication, language (aphasia), speech production/voice (dysarthria/apraxia/dysphonia), swallowing/dysphagia, pragmatic communication, and functional AAC/environmental memory supports.
• Target functional medication management, calendar use, financial tasks, and daily routine organization from a cognitive-linguistic perspective.
• Identify subtle changes in cognitive, communicative, or swallowing function to support proactive care and prevent complications like aspiration pneumonia, dehydration, or malnutrition.
• Educate residents, families, caregivers, nursing, and dining staff on custom communication strategies, cognitive support tools, safe swallowing protocols, and dietary modifications.
• Collaborate with physicians, ENT specialists, community leadership, dining services, wellness professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Monitor progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical presentation and functional outcomes.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation.
• Participate in care coordination, interdisciplinary team conferences, and discharge planning as appropriate.
• Contribute to a culture of clinical excellence, compassion, professionalism, and continuous learning.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR AN SLP WHO THINKS BEYOND THE TREATMENT SESSION.

You believe great therapy isn't simply about completing a speech worksheet or administering a standardized screening. It's about helping someone do more of what matters to them.

That might mean communicating confidently with family, managing medication and daily routines, actively participating in social groups and life enrichment activities, enjoying meals safely with friends in community dining venues, or feeling confident in independent living.

You believe:

• Every intervention should have a functional, real-world purpose.
• Residents should be appropriately challenged—not underestimated.
• Independence, autonomy, and quality of life are clinical priorities.
• Proactive clinical identification, aspiration prevention, and mealtime support matter.
• Environmental adaptation, AAC integration, mealtime protocols, and caregiver education are essential components of skilled therapy.
• Functional outcomes matter more than simply completing treatment minutes.
• Strong clinical relationships lead to better care.

YOU'LL HAVE A COMMUNITY — NOT JUST A CASELOAD.

Working in a resort-style senior community gives you the opportunity to see residents beyond the treatment session.

You'll see them participating in life enrichment events, meeting friends in community dining venues, attending social gatherings, or simply going about their day. Those real-world interactions provide valuable insight into their cognitive, communication, and swallowing performance in natural contexts, creating opportunities to support continued independence.

Therapy becomes part of everyday life—not something that exists separately from it.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF...

You're a Speech-Language Pathologist who:

• Enjoys building genuine relationships with residents.
• Possesses strong clinical competence across the full scope of adult/geriatric SLP practice
• Takes pride in thoughtful clinical reasoning and individualized care.
• Believes therapy should improve someone's actual life.
• Values independence, autonomy, and resident choice.
• Enjoys collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, and community leaders.
• Is curious, compassionate, and committed to continued professional growth.
• Communicates clearly and takes ownership of resident outcomes.
• Wants to make a meaningful impact in an active, upscale senior community.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Residents know you and trust you.
• Residents understand what they're working toward.
• Families feel informed and supported.
• Community staff and dining teams see you as an essential clinical resource for cognitive and dysphagia management.
• Your treatment plans are purposeful, comprehensive, and individualized.
• And your residents are better able to participate in the activities, amenities, relationships, meals, and routines that make their lives meaningful.

That's success.
