Job Description
As a Security Apprentice, you'll help maintain the safe and efficient operation of our Tyne Dock site in South Shields. You'll support effective security arrangements, including pass security, and personal and vehicle searches, ensuring compliance with the ISPS Code and other statutory regulations.

Location: Tyne Dock, South Shields Contract: Full-time, Permanent Starting Salary: £19,500
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining effective security arrangements, including pass security and personal/vehicle searches, in line with the ISPS Code and other statutory regulations
- Help operate gates, barriers, traffic control, and other access controls
- Complete records, log sheets, and search forms, and report any deficiencies, events, or incidents
- Support the investigation and reporting of incidents when requested
- Carry out foot and mobile patrols, CCTV surveillance, and gatehouse duties
- Assist with administering the vehicle ID and permit system, including producing security passes
- Deal with visitors and general enquiries professionally, communicating company policies and procedures
- Carry out day-to-day equipment checks, fault reporting, and logging
- Support general housekeeping in and around the security gates/office
- Take part in safety and security drills, exercises, and training, including staff familiarisation
- Help respond to incidents and emergencies, including calling out relevant staff and emergency services
- Support the evacuation of the Tyne Dock estate in the event of fire or terrorist threat
- Support the Marine Department with planning vessel movements and berthing/un-berthing

No prior security experience is necessary - full training and support will be provided throughout your apprenticeship.
