Summary: Plug Power is a company focused on achieving operational excellence through data-centric processes and applications in manufacturing operations. The Software Engineer plays a vital role in developing and refining software applications to improve product quality and reliability while supporting continuous improvement efforts. Responsibilities: - Design/create integrated systems which communicate in an automated way to give a full picture of the manufacturing operations that are happening on the production floor - Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) functionality is preferred - Develop operational software applications for data collection to support continuous improvement efforts and to increase the visibility onto the production floor - Support improvements in production quality, production capacity, and cost reduction initiatives. Will be required to engage with a range of business units to understand where there are opportunities for future software integration - Drive continued implementation of the manufacturing execution systems into all aspects of manufacturing within the PLUG network - Ensures compliance to all Regulatory (Local, Federal), Corporate, and Plant standards - Develops and maintains a detailed understanding of Plug Power products and related manufacturing objectives and engineering constraints - Represents Plug Power in a professional manner at all times - Develops and improves manufacturing processes and material flow through data collection and user interfaces to view documentation or data - Monitors process improvement progress and supports team problem solving projects including root cause analysis, containment, corrective, and preventative action implementation to zero in on a well-defined MES and communication loop with other business units - Build manufacturing facing applications with the intent to collect the data necessary to communicate manufacturing process performance metrics (KPI’s) - Utilizes and improves business process systems (quality & test data bases, ERP system, project management software, etc.) to support continuous improvement efforts - Develops and maintains standard operating procedures (SOP’s) relevant to the newly developed software - Deploy and Train manufacturing operators along with leadership on new functionality - Contributes to Operational Excellence efforts by accomplishing related results as needed - Perform all other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - BS degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or related field - Proficient in Python, R, or other programming common languages - Experienced with software application design and testing - Excellent organizational and time management skills - Outstanding communication and presentation skills - Demonstrated critical thinking and creative problem solving - Superior analytical skills and data-driven approach to evaluate data and assimilate into a working plan for improvement - Proficient with Microsoft Office software - Uncompromising dedication to product quality - Ability to manage multiple complex projects and multi-task effectively - Proven track record of driving continuous improvement projects - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Ability to role model high standards of professionalism - Ability to mentor junior staff members - Excellent follow-through - Must be driven and self-motivated Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) functionality is preferred - Experience with Tulip software is a plus Required Skills: Python, Software application design, Data analysis Important Skills: Lean-Sigma methodologies, Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Nice-to-Have Skills: R, Tulip software, Microsoft Office, Organizational skills, Communication skills, Problem solving, Teamwork, Mentoring Benefits: Health, Dental & Vision Insurance eligibility starting from the first day of hire, 401(k) with 5% company match, Bonus eligibility, Paid time off including vacation, personal and sick time, Paid Holidays, Wellness Reimbursement Program, Potential to apply for Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Referral program, Employee Assistance Program
