- Empower diverse residents to substantially improve their health using food as medicine.
- Build community and peer-to-peer support toward behavior change and maintenance.
About the Position
PPMNY seeks a summer intern through the SternWorks program at NYU to develop an actionable business development plan, expanding how PPMNY engages with for-profit entities to advance workplace wellness via plant-based nutrition. Our goals are not only to bring innovative and highly effective nutrition empowerment initiatives into workplaces, but also to subsidize PPMNY's charitable community work through a strong stream of earned income from these types of projects.
In 2024, PPMNY was selected for a competitive consulting engagement through Penn Pro Bono Alumni Consulting (PennPAC), led by Wharton School graduates. At our request, the team assessed the corporate wellness landscape and provided recommendations to strengthen our positioning, messaging, and business development. A key recommendation — already identified internally — was to rebrand the organization to better appeal to employers with broader geographic footprints. That rebrand is underway, with completion targeted for Fall 2026. We plan to implement PennPAC’s other recommendations including upgrading corporate marketing collateral and business tracking systems, and promoting PPMNY through key industry conferences and memberships.
We now seek a savvy intern to work with our Network Director to take the next step with PennPAC's recommendations by developing a roadmap of action so that, by the fall, we can start to build relationships that will lead to meaningful workplace wellness partnerships and earned income expansion in the years ahead.
Expected deliverables for this internship include:
- Updated corporate engagement materials, using recommendations from the PennPAC report; intern will work with our graphic designer and leverage AI tools to achieve this task.
- A timeline for year-round corporate engagement.
- A list of good-fit businesses we should start to target in our outreach.
- Determining which virtual marketplaces for corporate wellness vendors PPMNY should be featured on.
The intern may also implement some near-term tasks in the action plan, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Strong critical thinking, writing, and research skills
- Strong planning skills including experience using tech tools for planning and project management
- Experience in a corporate environment would be a benefit
- Interest in plant-based nutrition or health and wellness is recommended
Location:
PPMNY maintains a fully remote workplace.
This is a work-from-home position.
Compensation: Pursuant to the SternWorks internship program, this is a full-time 10-week internship in the summer of 2026, compensated through NYU with a contribution from PPMNY.
To apply: Please submit a) a brief statement of interest, and b) a resume.
