Job Description
Summary: Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania (PPWP) is the local affiliate of the country’s leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider. The Health Care Assistant will support the delivery of comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare, including clinical abortion care and family planning, at the Planned Parenthood Allegheny County locations.
Responsibilities:
- Consistently demonstrate appropriate service behaviors in interactions with patients and colleagues
- Actively contribute to an inclusive workplace culture by working collaboratively as a valued member of the care team
- Proactively work to resolve conflict and perform service recovery, as needed
- Administrative duties include answering phones, making appointments, taking messages, transferring records for patients, and ensuring completion of health center records and required forms
- Perform patient medical and social history intakes and provide education as indicated for the services patients are seeking as directed by supervisor/clinician on duty
- Complete basic lab work and follow procedures as required
- Provide patients with non-judgmental pregnancy options counseling and make referrals for service based on the patient’s choice
- Perform all recordkeeping duties related to patient care with accuracy
- Perform housekeeping and stocking duties as needed
- Complete HIPAA and OSHA training and other training as required
Required Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent required
- Customer service experience required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
