Youth Overdose Prevention Intern at Pima County in Tucson, AZ

Summary: Pima County Health Department (PCHD) is offering paid summer internship positions for aspiring public health professionals. The internship provides hands-on experience in various administrative, operational or technical tasks related to youth overdose prevention. Responsibilities: - Perform a variety of administrative, operational or technical tasks as assigned by the department Required Qualifications: - Must be enrolled in a four-year degree program as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior with an institution that has an active Affiliation agreement with PCHD - Majoring in Public Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or related fields - Commit to intern a minimum of 400 hours between the dates of 05/18/2026 - 07/31/2026 - Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the 'Education' and 'Work Experience' sections of the application - Do not substitute a resume for your application or write 'see resume' on your application - Valid driver license is required at time of application - Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment - The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures - Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination - Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services' review and approval of the candidate's driving record - The County requires pre-employment background checks - Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with topics including substance use, mental health, and stigma - Experience with event coordination or planning - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software including Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Excel - Experience working with high school and/or middle school age youth - Experience volunteering in the community Required Skills: Public Health, Epidemiology Important Skills: Substance Use, Event Coordination, Microsoft Office Suite Nice-to-Have Skills: Community Volunteering, Youth Engagement Benefits: Housing will be offered to students for the duration of the internship.
