SEO & GEO Specialist at Pillar in Milan, Lombardy, IT

About Pillar

Pillar is an Italian startup founded on February 13, 2025. In less than a year, we raised €15.2 million to revolutionize the construction industry, and we are growing fast. Our mission is to rebuild its foundations. Our ambition is to manage 1 in 3 construction sites in Europe. We are Italian, but with a European vision 🚀

The Italian construction industry is the backbone of the country's economy, involving nearly 5 million people, yet it is still managed with outdated tools.

Pillar was built to solve this problem at its root. We have built an all-in-one platform that allows construction companies to oversee every job site and monitor profitability in real time.

Why Join Us Now

Organic search is one of the growth channels with the greatest long-term potential: every page that ranks today can become a source of qualified leads tomorrow.

We already have the foundations: a structured blog, interactive tools that help construction professionals answer practical questions, and a website that attracts traffic every day. Now we need someone to turn these assets into a scalable organic growth engine.

You'll help Pillar rank on Google, become a trusted source for AI-powered search experiences, and attract construction companies ready to discover our platform.

This isn't a role where you simply publish a few articles every month. It's an opportunity to shape how an entire industry finds information, answers questions and discovers Pillar.

The Team

You'll report to the Growth & Performance Manager, working closely with the Performance Marketing team, our frontend developer and our data analyst.

You'll own the organic growth roadmap and collaborate with our Brand team on content and brand consistency.

At Pillar, paid and organic search work together. Your research will inform our Google Ads strategy, while paid campaign data will help you identify what converts before investing months in organic positioning.

Like the rest of our central Growth function, you'll support every market Pillar enters: Italy first, Spain next, and other European countries as we expand.

What You'll Do

In practice:

• Own organic growth end to end: lead keyword and search-intent research, site architecture, content planning, editorial briefs, internal linking and content refreshes, connecting the first search to the booked demo.
• Make Pillar a source AI trusts and cites: optimize content for AI-powered search experiences across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI search features. Use clear definitions, reliable data, FAQs, entity optimization and structured data to improve visibility and monitor AI citations.
• Build scalable pages and tools: turn regional price lists, labour costs and regulatory deadlines into useful landing pages and interactive resources that answer real customer questions and attract organic traffic.
• Keep our website technically sound: work with our frontend developer on crawling, indexing, JavaScript rendering, structured data and Core Web Vitals. Identify issues, translate them into actionable tickets and validate the fixes.
• Turn traffic into qualified opportunities: optimize calls to action, gated tools and conversion paths, ensuring that organic visitors can become qualified leads and booked demos.
• Build authority and credibility: develop digital PR initiatives with trade publications and industry associations, create studies based on anonymized company data, and earn high-quality backlinks.

Your one goal: make organic search one of Pillar's most cost-effective sources of qualified demos in every market we enter.

Your First 90 Days

• Month 1: conduct a comprehensive technical, content and AI visibility audit. Map search intent across the Italian market and spend time with Sales and customers to understand their real questions and challenges.
• Month 2: launch the first scalable page templates, implement technical improvements and establish an editorial calendar based on your content briefs.
• Month 3: introduce a monthly organic performance report connected to pipeline, establish a benchmark for AI citations and define the organic growth strategy for Spain.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strategic SEO expertise, technical understanding and a strong focus on business outcomes.

• You think in terms of search intent, not just traffic volume. A keyword that generates 50 searches and drives qualified demos is more valuable than one that attracts thousands of irrelevant visitors.
• You understand how AI-powered search selects and references sources, and you've tested strategies to improve visibility rather than relying on theory alone.
• You're technically confident: you can read HTML, understand rendering and indexing, and work effectively with developers to implement SEO improvements.
• You recognize what makes content useful. You can improve a weak brief, sharpen a vague headline and make sure the answer to a customer's question is clear and easy to find.
• You automate repetitive work. You use AI and scripts for tasks such as keyword clustering, content briefs, internal linking and monitoring, without sacrificing quality or producing generic content.
• You connect SEO to business performance. Rankings and traffic are important, but qualified leads and demos are what ultimately matter.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience, with measurable organic growth demonstrated through Google Search Console or similar tools, ideally in B2B or considered-purchase environments.
• Strong technical SEO knowledge, including crawling, indexing, JavaScript rendering, structured data and Core Web Vitals.
• Experience developing content strategies, topic clusters, editorial briefs, editorial calendars and content refreshes.
• Proficiency with Google Search Console, GA4 and professional SEO tools such as Semrush or Ahrefs.
• Native-level Italian and fluent English.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with programmatic SEO and scalable landing-page templates.
• Hands-on experience with GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) or AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), supported by measurable results.
• International SEO experience, including hreflang and multi-market strategies; Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
• Experience with digital PR or link building, particularly in traditional industries.
• Familiarity with Next.js, React, headless CMS platforms, Python or Google Apps Script for automation.
• Some experience with paid search and performance marketing.
• Previous experience in a startup or high-growth environment.

You don't need to know what “congruità della manodopera” means yet. Give it a month, and you'll rank for it.
