Job Description
Summary: Pike Engineering is a premier full-service electrical contracting company that builds and maintains infrastructure across the western United States. The Construction Management Intern supports the planning, coordination, and execution of power and utility infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on exposure to utility construction operations.
Responsibilities:
- Support project management and field leadership on electric utility construction and EPC projects, including distribution, transmission, substation, and major underground work
- Assist with coordination between linemen crews, underground crews, field supervisors, subcontractors, engineers, inspectors, and utility customers
- Support daily operational activities such as: Field reports and production tracking, Work plans and schedules, Safety documentation and job brief records, Customer required reporting and closeout documentation
- Assist with underground utility scopes, including exposure to: Duct bank and conduit systems, Vaults, foundations, and civil coordination, Material tracking and installation sequencing, Traffic control and right of way considerations
- Support EPC / design build projects by assisting with schedule coordination, procurement tracking, document control, and change management
- Help track job costs, unit production, quantities, and basic estimating for scope changes or customer directed work
- Support compliance with utility customer standards, OSHA requirements, company policies, and industry specific safety rules
- Learn and observe safety practices critical to utility construction, including energized work awareness, job briefings, tailboards, and PPE requirements
- Communicate professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to support collaboration and issue resolution
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and assist with project management and reporting systems
- Actively learn utility construction methods, terms, and customer requirements in a fast paced, safety sensitive environment
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude while working under project schedules and operational demands
- Perform additional duties assigned to support project, customer, or operational needs
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Construction Management, Engineering, or related construction‑focused degree program at an accredited college or university
- Ability and willingness to work in active power and utility construction environments, including underground and EPC project sites
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to meet the physical demands and safety requirements of utility construction work
- Willingness to comply with all company, customer, and regulatory safety standards, including PPE requirements
