Job Description
Summary: Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is the largest municipally owned gas utility in the nation, supplying gas service in the City of Philadelphia to over 500,000 customers. They are offering internships for Computer Science students in their Information Service Governance Department, focusing on energy efficiency programs and customer service initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Ongoing review of national gas energy efficiency programs
- Provide recommendations and support program for designing future EnergySense energy efficiency programs and low income weatherization programs
- Research grant opportunities and other programs in region that can support energy efficiency, and maintain a catalog of those organizations
- Review of new customer service program opportunities
- Research of best practices within the industry
- Compilation of program materials
- Program marketing and participation
- Support customer service initiatives
- Analyze program data and customer billing data to determine if energy efficiency measures are achieving savings, and make recommendations for program improvement based off analysis
- Philadelphia demographics & PGW customer data to inform targeted marketing
- Refining program marketing outreach databases for targeted outreach
- Assistance in development of communications materials, drafting newsletters and social media posts
- Identifying key outreach partners & stakeholders
- Analyze data from recent marketing campaigns to identify trends and inform strategy
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Communications, or other related field of study and currently enrolled in Graduate School OR currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration, Public Policy, Environmental Studies or other related field of study as a Junior or Senior
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others in the best interest of PGW while maintaining professional effective business relationships
- Be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week to the program (year-round interns)
