Job Description
Summary: Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence. The Cybersecurity Research Engineer will work on cyber security research projects, collaborating with a team to develop and test innovative prototypes related to emerging cyber capabilities and high-volume network data analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Designing, developing, and testing software modules related to emerging embedded cyber capabilities, high-availability network protocols, cyber mission planning and reasoning systems, data analytics, processing and analysis of high-volume network data
- Hardware and software reverse engineering activities against bespoke targets
- Development of CI/CD-based testing strategies for developed software modules
- Analysis and assessment of multi-dimensional network data to inform software development
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
- Demonstrated software development expertise
- Ability and desire to quickly acquire knowledge of new subject matter areas
- Expertise in one or more of: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, or similar languages
- Working knowledge of modern development practices and toolsets (Git, subversion, CI/CD toolchains)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing in and administering Linux
- A passion to learn something new every day and to stay up to date with developments in your field
- Adept at independent problem-solving and comfortable with a general approach of taking initiative to find and develop solutions
- Working knowledge of modern computer networking technologies
- Familiarity with modern agile development practices (Scrum and similar)
- Familiarity with container and orchestration solutions, including Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Terraform
- Experience with Networking Protocols
- Experience with configuring Network appliances
- Ability to grasp the 'big picture' and see beyond specific problems
- Program analysis, including program understanding, vulnerability identification, and remediation
