Job Description
Summary: Per Scholas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to driving mobility and opportunity through technology training. They are seeking a Competitive Analysis Research Intern to support strategic growth and market intelligence projects, focusing on competitive landscape mapping and product positioning in the workforce development sector.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct a deep-dive analysis into the competitive landscape for infrastructure talent development within specific industries (e.g., Data Centers, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor) both on a national level and within specific geographic areas. Identify major direct training competitors and map where employers are currently hiring talent for these roles
- Provide recommendations on how Per Scholas should position its training offerings to remain competitive against alternative providers in the skilled trades and infrastructure sectors to both learners and employers
- Research and compare pricing models for earned revenue products, including customized training and upskilling courses. Analyze how Per Scholas's value proposition compares to market alternatives
- Utilize a combination of AI-powered secondary research (e.g., desktop) and primary research methods, including "secret shopping," to gather intelligence on competitor enrollment processes, pricing, and curriculum delivery
- Apply strong analytical skills and AI prompting techniques to synthesize findings into "so what?" insights that drive strategic organizational decisions
- Prepare clear and concise written reports and verbal presentations to share research findings with leadership
- Attend project meetings and contribute to discussions regarding market strategy and product development
Required Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate student with a strong interest in research, market analysis, or business strategy; alternative backgrounds eligible when the required skills have been obtained without a degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Proficiency in research methodologies and data analysis
- Ability to utilize AI prompting to enhance research efficiency and synthesis
- A strong bias toward learning and inquiry, with an ability to identify the 'so what?' in complex data
- Excitement to learn about and contribute to the field of workforce development
