Job Description
Summary: Penn State University is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate student for the Engineering Support Intern position in the Applied Research Laboratory. The role involves assisting Engineering Technologists with their duties, developing specialized tools for testing electromechanical systems, and utilizing design software for product development.
Responsibilities:
- Develop specialized electrical, mechanical, and/or software tools to support testing of electromechanical systems
- Utilize computer-aided design software to develop electrical, mechanical, and/or software products
- Document existing and new systems and architectures
- Assist Engineering Technologists with their tasking
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Familiarity with shop equipment, practices, and procedures
- Fundamental electrical circuit design
- Experience with MATLAB and LABVIEW
- Must be a U.S. citizen to apply
- Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic RF knowledge
- Circuit board construction
- Wiring harness construction and wire management
- Fundamental understanding of electronics and electronic test equipment
