Job Description
Summary: Peak Energy is a pioneering company focused on advancing Sodium-Ion battery systems for renewable energy. They are seeking a motivated engineering intern to join their Manufacturing Operations team, where the intern will work on software systems that enhance production workflows and support energy storage solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and debug Ignition SCADA/MES scripts for production workflows and operator interfaces
- Perform on-site debugging of shop floor systems and provide hands-on support during production
- Shadow and support requirements gathering across process, manufacturing, and design teams to understand how MES needs to reflect real operational workflows
- Build and improve genealogy and traceability logic for ESS assembly processes
- Build and maintain data pipelines connecting shop floor systems to cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- Support cloud-based manufacturing data infrastructure including storage, compute, and event-driven pipelines on AWS (S3, Lambda, EKS)
- Contribute to internal tooling and dashboards that surface production and quality data
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Go, Rust, TypeScript, etc.)
- Interest in manufacturing systems, automation, or energy technology
- Must be able to work on-site in Burlingame, CA
- Self-directed, communicative, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to SCADA, MES, PLC, or industrial automation (Ignition, Siemens, Rockwell, etc.)
- Familiarity with SQL or time-series data concepts
- Prior internship or coursework in manufacturing, robotics, or hardware-adjacent software
