Job Description
Summary: ParsonsKellogg is seeking an AI Intern to join their team. The role involves working with LiDAR point cloud data, processing and analyzing image data, and supporting the development of AI/ML models for perception tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Work with LiDAR point cloud data for perception and scene understanding tasks
- Process and analyze image data using tools such as OpenCV and related computer vision frameworks
- Support the development of AI/ML models for detecting defects or items in both images and point clouds
- Assist with image registration and alignment across sensor inputs
- Develop and improve point cloud scene understanding models
- Work on 2D/3D correspondences between image and point cloud data
- Integrate GPS/location data to geolocate identified defects or objects in the environment
- Help evaluate and refine perception pipelines for accuracy, robustness, and real-world performance
Required Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field at an accredited college or university
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++
- Experience with OpenCV, NumPy, or similar libraries for image and data processing
- Familiarity with point cloud processing, computer vision, machine learning, or 3D perception through coursework, research, or project experience
- Understanding of image registration, sensor fusion, geolocation, and 2D/3D correspondence concepts is preferred
- Comfort working with large-scale, real-world sensor datasets
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of image registration, sensor fusion, geolocation, and 2D/3D correspondence concepts is preferred
- Prior project or internship experience in perception, robotics, computer vision, or geospatial AI is preferred but not required
