Job Description
Summary: Pace® Labs is dedicated to advancing science for the health and safety of communities. They are seeking an intern to support laboratory sample-related activities, including environmental testing and analysis, while gaining valuable training and experience in a lab setting.
Responsibilities:
- Support all laboratory sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, processing and maintenance
- Digestion and extraction of environmental samples such as water and soil
- Maintain and update appropriate documentation and databases
- Participate in training on fundamental lab support policies, programs, and practices
Required Qualifications:
- Good team player and able to follow work instructions accurately
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Ability to perform work in a lab or office setting, remain standing for long periods while conducting tests, work around strong smells, and wear personal protective equipment while handling samples (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses and gloves; all PPE provided by Pace®)
- Mobility to work in a lab and office setting, use standard office and lab equipment and stamina to sit for extended periods of time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone
- Work is performed in a lab, office, and warehouse setting. Work is subject chemicals, fumes, gases, noxious odors, and related items in a lab setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science preferred)
- Taken at least General Chemistry with accompanying lab(s), Preferred to have taken Organic Chemistry or higher with accompanying lab(s)
