Merchant 1948 | Footwear with heritage, designed for modern life

We’re Merchant 1948 – a New Zealand family business putting shoes on feet since 1948. With over 30 stores across Aotearoa and Melbourne, we’ve built a reputation for premium leather footwear, considered design, and warm, expert service. Our stores are more than retail spaces, they’re places where generations of customers come for timeless style, great craftsmanship, and genuine connection.

We’re looking for x2 Fixed-term part-time Keyholder to join our new Merchant 1948 Hornby Outlet store. If you’re confident on the shop floor and ready to take on a bit more responsibility like opening or closing the store and supporting operations when the manager’s away – this is the perfect next step in your retail career. • Hourly Rate: $24.50 + bonus potential!

• Minimum Hours: 10.5 hours per week

  • Role 2: Friday (11am - 4pm) & Saturday (10:30am - 5pm)

What your day will look like:

• Creating exceptional experiences for every customer
• Supporting with opening and closing the store
• Running smooth and successful shifts
• Reaching your sales goals (and enjoying the bonus rewards!)
• Keeping the store tidy, stylish and well-presented
• Being a positive, proactive team player

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Have experience in customer service (retail, hospitality or similar)
• Are confident, responsible and happy to lead by example
• Have a natural way with people and love building rapport
• Are organised and calm under pressure
• Have a great eye for detail and presentation

• Supportive, down-to-earth leadership
• Access to EAP for extra support
• A brand with real history – and exciting things ahead
