The Mechanical Engineer (Structural Body) will design functional and reliable vehicle components, supporting the design, analysis, and validation of vehicle structures while collaborating with senior engineers and other disciplines. Responsibilities: - Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes - Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting - Support the design and development of vehicle structural systems including body, frames, brackets, crossmembers, reinforcements, and welded assemblies - Assist in defining and analyzing load paths, structural interfaces, and attachment strategies to ensure durability, stiffness, and crash performance - Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role - Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally - Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues - Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures - Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability - Perform and Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material - Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements - Provide non-complex technical assistance for production support - Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication - Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations - Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs - Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering and communicate status via verbal or written communication - Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Jira, Python or Minitab - Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems - Experience with a high level CAD system - Experience with GD&T - Experience with fabrication processes of aluminum and steel - Experience with different joining processes of aluminum and steel - Experience with manufacturing assembly processes - Experience with Engineering Change Notices Required Skills: Mechanical Engineering, CAD Software, GD&T Important Skills: Python, Minitab, Fabrication Processes, Joining Processes, Manufacturing Assembly
