Job Description
Summary: Oshkosh Corporation is dedicated to building, serving, and protecting communities worldwide through the design and manufacture of specialty trucks and access equipment. They are seeking a Systems Engineer to participate in engineering activities, ensuring successful product development and customer satisfaction by converting requirements into total systems solutions across various engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and release requirements specification documents, including defining the requirements and verification baseline
- Support requirements, design, and verification team projects and coordinate regularly with key partners to maintain program objectives
- Lead the creation of user need requirements and decomposition of those requirements to system and subsystem requirements
- Collaborate cross functional with multiple disciplines to identify new, obsolete or adjusted regulatory standards (e.g. FDA or IEC)
- Review and approve system and subsystem requirement documents to ensure user needs are properly decomposed and intent of the user needs is met
- Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions
- Establish system architecture and CONOPS, perform system trades and analysis, flow down the architecture and CONOPS into requirements and interfaces, and support verification planning
- Use communication skills to work across the organization and customer/user community to ensure consensus and understanding of requirements and solutions
- Responsible for completion of a project or part of a project of moderate complexity on time
- May be responsible for overall project schedule and budget
- May be responsible for managing multiple priorities
- Understand the Product Development Process, Life Cycle Management, Reliability, and Design for Manufacturing requirements
- Develop vehicle and system level requirements for vehicle system controls supporting research, regulatory compliance, reliability, development, failure mode analysis, verification, validation, testing and production implementation
- Establish system and sub-system requirements according to the needs of a project
- Work in a team environment with internal and external project teams on advanced control development efforts from the project concept through production
- Author requirements documentation in MagicDraw, Jama, or similar tool for requirements management, decomposition and publication and coordinating release through approval/review process
- Establish and manage requirements traceability and compliance
- Prepare system engineering program and design review process (SRR, PDR, CDR, FRR, etc.)
- Build consensus
- Manage change
- Convey progress to Senior Management
- Other duties as assigned
- Regular attendance is required
Required Qualifications:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in systems engineering or comparable
- Familiarity of tools such as MagicDraw, Jama Connect, or similar for requirements management
- Experience with SysML or UML modeling languages for model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with larger OEM process and procedures
