Job Description
Summary: Orthofix is a Med Tech company dedicated to improving people's quality of life through innovative medical technologies. The Intern will support the design and development of spinal implant systems, focusing on instrument design, modeling, and testing in simulated surgical settings.
Responsibilities:
- Work within a project team to contribute original concepts for new product development
- Provide weekly progress status updates to Project Lead
- Generating Engineering Models and Prints Based on Marketing Inputs
- Collaborating with the Machine Shop and Outside Suppliers to Generate Prototypes
- Completing Verification Testing in Prove Out Design Outputs
- Completing Validation Testing in a Cadaveric Lab to Confirm Met User Requirements
- Generating Test Protocols and Reports to Document Test Methods and Results
Required Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required
- Enrollment in Bachelor's or Master's degree program
- Junior or Senior level standing, or graduate student
- 3.0 GPA
- A basic understanding of CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX)
- Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Engineering discipline of study in Mechanical, Biomechanical, or Bioengineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering Major from an ABET accredited program
- CAD modeling experience with Creo
