Job Description
Summary: Orthofix is a company dedicated to improving people's quality of life through innovative medical technologies. The intern will focus on enhancing product testing standards to ensure consistency and reliability in testing spinal implants.
Responsibilities:
- Determine the current state of product testing in the mechanical test laboratory
- Develop an experiment to challenge the test standard(s) to gain a better understanding of spinal implants
- Perform a series of testing to get hands on experience
- Properly document performed testing
- Develop test fixture and process improvements to increase consistency and reliability of testing
- Report summarizing previous research
- Development of test protocol utilizing a proper design of experiments
- Completion of all outlined testing
- Completed BMES abstract
- Final test report to document testing
- Final CAD drawings/recommendations for improvement
Required Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required
- Enrollment in Bachelor's or Master's degree program
- Junior or Senior level standing, or graduate student
- Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering Major
- CAD modeling experience
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering Major from an ABET accredited program
- CAD modeling experience with Creo or Solidworks
- Matlab experience
- Familiarity with ASTM and/or ISO standards
