This role will lead the Second line Risk function for First Citizens India (FCI) in alignment with the global Risk organization at First Citizens Bank
In addition to leading the Risk function in India, the role will be a core member of the India Leadership Team, with direct influence and contribution to overall strategy, governance, culture and key site-level priorities, including talent development, innovation, and community engagement

About the Team:
This role heads the second line Risk function at First Citizens India, leading a growing 150+ member team across diverse risk disciplines. This team is integral to the global risk and compliance capabilities and initiatives of the bank as well as provides entity-wide risk and compliance oversight for India.
Impact
Head of Risk Management, India is the senior-most risk leader for First Citizens India, responsible for providing enterprise-wide risk management oversight across all risk disciplines, The role operates within a matrix reporting structure, reporting directly to the India Country Head with a functional line to the Global Risk Office.
The role strengthens regulatory trust, protects the firm’s reputation and license to operate, and ensures that risk considerations are embedded into strategic and operational decision-making—enabling sustainable growth while maintaining strong independent challenge.
Key Deliverables
Enterprise & Strategic Risk Leadership
Serve as the senior-most risk leader in India, providing independent oversight across all material risk types
Act as a trusted risk advisor to the India Country Head and senior leadership team
Represent FCI within the Global Risk Office and global risk governance forums
Ensure India risk strategy is aligned with global risk appetite, priorities, and standards
Anticipate regulatory developments and proactively adapt risk frameworks and practices
Risk Transformation & Capability Building
Execute global risk initiatives and transformation programs within India
Strengthen risk capabilities across Risk function including operational risk, enterprise risk, model risk, compliance, AML, Credit Review and other Risk disciplines
Partner with global teams to enhance risk data quality, reporting, and technology enablement
Drive process re-engineering, automation, and scalability of risk operations
People, Culture & Leadership
Lead, develop, and inspire a large India-based risk organization within a matrixed global structure
Build a strong pipeline of risk leaders aligned to global capability and leadership standards
Foster a culture of constructive challenge, accountability, and transparency
Act as a role model for strong risk ethics and conduct across the organization
Skills and Qualification
Functional Skills
Proven experience leading enterprise or regional risk functions within large, regulated financial institutions
Strong ability to operate effectively in matrixed, global organizations with dual accountability
Executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, Risk governing boards, and regulators
Sound risk judgment and the ability to balance risk discipline with business objectives
Strong people leadership, change management, and organizational development capabilities
Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex risk issues for diverse audiences
Technical Skills
Deep understanding of Enterprise Risk Management frameworks and risk governance models
Expertise across key risk domains including operational risk, compliance risk, model risk, and internal controls
Experience implementing global risk policies within local regulatory environments
Familiarity with global regulatory standards and supervisory expectations applicable to multinational banks
Experience with risk data aggregation, reporting, and use of GRC and risk technology platforms, like Archer
Qualification
20+ years of progressive experience in risk management within large financial services organizations with a minimum of 10+ years in executive leadership roles in matrixed environment with US facing GCC or offshore risk organizations
Strong domain expertise across 1st and 2nd Lines of Risk function capabilities with exposure to Internal Audit and Banking Regulators in a global banking context.
Deep understanding of banking regulatory landscape, Operational and Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Controls, Model Risk, AML, Credit Review capabilities
Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CRMA, or equivalent preferred
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred
Proven ability to lead Risk transformation, including automation and process reengineering.
Highly skilled in cross-cultural leadership, change management, and talent development.
