Job Description
Summary: Oldcastle Building Envelope is involved in providing architectural glass and building products for various projects across the United States. They are seeking an AI Intern to contribute to the development of AI-powered workflows and assist in building and testing automation pipelines that integrate AI into business processes.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and iterate on LLM-based workflows including prompt engineering, output evaluation, and agent logic
- Develop automation pipelines that connect AI models to real business processes (intake, classification, routing, generation)
- Test and evaluate AI outputs against defined business rules and accuracy thresholds
- Build data pipelines that aggregate and normalize inputs from multiple ERP and operational systems
- Clean, validate, and structure datasets for use in AI models and analytical reporting
- Identify data quality issues and propose fixes, not just flag them
- Develop dashboards and analytical views that track AI workflow performance and business outcomes
- Analyze operational and commercial data to surface patterns, anomalies, and opportunities
- Define and calculate metrics that connect AI activity to measurable business results
- Document AI workflow logic, data definitions, and business rules; support testing protocols and auditability
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
- Proficient in Python (pandas, NumPy) and SQL; you write code regularly beyond coursework
- Hands-on experience with LLMs: prompt engineering, API usage, RAG, or agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar)
- Familiarity with applied AI architectures, cloud-hosted services, and chatbot or conversational AI systems used in real workflows
- Builder mentality — GitHub activity, side projects, or real implementations carry more weight than coursework
- Comfortable working with incomplete, messy data and producing something usable from it
- Can explain what you built and why it works to someone who doesn't code
Preferred Qualifications:
- Power BI or other BI tool experience is a plus; not required
Required Skills: Python, SQL, Large Language Models, Prompt Engineering, API Usage, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Agent Frameworks, Applied AI Architectures, Cloud-Hosted Services, Chatbot Systems, Conversational AI Systems, Data Pipeline Development, Data Cleaning, Data Validation, Data Structuring
