Job Description
Summary: Old Republic Surety provides contract, fidelity, and commercial surety solutions through a nationwide network of independent insurance agencies. The Associate Underwriter will develop expertise in surety underwriting by evaluating bond submissions, analyzing financial and account information, assessing risk, and supporting business growth in collaboration with branch personnel, agents, and management.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in hands-on training designed to build expertise in surety, construction accounting, legal documents, risk analysis, and underwriting practices
- Evaluate bond submissions, review credit reports and references, assess risk, and make approval or declination decisions within established authority
- Work closely with branch personnel, agents, and management to gather and analyze account information, maintain accurate underwriting files, and support business growth across your territory
- Travel with branch leadership, visit agents and customers, attend industry events, and participate in learning and development sessions across the country
Required Qualifications:
- Success as an Associate Underwriter requires curiosity, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a desire to continuously build expertise
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Construction Management/Technology, or a related field is preferred, along with internship experience in financial services
