Summary / Primary Role:
The Sales Manager, Liquid Bulk Solutions is a hunter-focused new business role dedicated exclusively to identifying, pursuing, and closing new liquid bulk shipper accounts. This role sells Odyssey's over-the-road liquid bulk transportation and Domestic Tank Intermodal services across North America, with the ideal candidate fluent in liquid bulk transportation and thriving on prospecting, building a pipeline, and converting target shippers into long-term Odyssey Logistics customers.
What You’ll Do:
We're looking for a hunter-mentality sales leader who thrives on prospecting net-new liquid bulk shippers and converting them into long-term Odyssey customers.
• New Business Development
◦ Proactively identify, prospect, and target net-new liquid bulk shippers in the chemicals, food & beverage, agriculture, semiconductor, and battery chemicals industries, and other related sectors not currently working with Odyssey.
◦ Sell Odyssey's over-the-road liquid bulk transportation and domestic tank intermodal services to new shippers, positioning the full liquid bulk portfolio to win first-time business.
• Market Analysis & Strategic Planning
◦ Analyze liquid bulk market trends, shipper freight patterns, and competitive intelligence to build a target list and prioritize outreach.
◦ Develop strategic business development plans tailored to target liquid bulk shippers, aiming to win new logos, negotiate initial contracts, and establish a strong foundation for long-term revenue growth.
• Relationship Building & Client Advocacy
◦ Build relationships with key decision-makers at prospect organizations — particularly supply chain, procurement, and operations contacts — through in-person meetings, calls, and proactive outreach.
◦ Address prospect questions, objections, and concerns throughout the sales cycle, and advocate for prospect needs internally to ensure market feedback informs service improvements.
• Pipeline Management & Execution
◦ Build and manage a robust new-business pipeline from initial outreach through contract signing, coordinating with Operations and Pricing to structure winning proposals, and leading prospect meetings, presentations, and RFP responses.
◦ Track and report pipeline metrics, win rates, and sales activity to leadership, and maintain accurate, up-to-date prospect records in Salesforce.
What You Bring:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field
• 5+ years of new-business development or outside sales experience within over-the-road liquid bulk transportation, domestic tank intermodal, chemicals, or related supply chain industries
• Strong hunter mentality with a proven track record of prospecting, cold calling, and winning new business
• Fluent in over-the-road liquid bulk transportation and domestic tank intermodal services, including equipment types, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation capabilities, with strong analytical skills and proficiency in Salesforce, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and to think outside the box to identify and resolve roadblocks
