Flight Test Instrumentation Intern at Odys Aviation in Long Beach, CA

Summary: Odys Aviation is focused on building safe, sustainable aircraft to improve travel efficiency. The Flight Test Instrumentation Intern will play a crucial role in a flight test program by designing, programming, installing, and troubleshooting instrumentation in prototype aircraft and ground control stations. Responsibilities: - Install, program, test and support aircraft flight test instrumentation systems to meet requirements - Build and maintain a fly-by-wire aircraft according to Odys standards using shop and calibrated tooling - Build and install: Harness assemblies, Strain Gauges, DAQ systems, accelerometers, data aggregators, and other sensor parameters - Maintain good recordkeeping of all work performed - Assume any duties delegated Required Qualifications: - Previous experimental flight test experience, preferably eVTOL or UAS-related - Experience implementing sensor stacks with known flight control architectures, both hardware and software integration - Excellent computer skills – proficiency with day-to-day applications as well as data analysis experience using Matlab and Python - Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with colleagues across a wide range of technical disciplines - Must be able to work both independently and on a team, work extended hours, and travel as required - Travel Requirements: This position will involve at least 75% travel to different flight test site locations. This travel will be most commonly to Buttonwillow, CA with the rest of the flight test team Preferred Qualifications: - Hands-on experience in motorsports and/or electric vehicles (AIAA Design, Build, Fly; Formula SAE, etc.) Required Skills: Flight test experience, Sensor stack implementation, Data analysis (Matlab), Data analysis (Python) Important Skills: Interpersonal skills Nice-to-Have Skills: Extended hours, Motorsports experience, Electric vehicles experience, Teamwork, Independent work
