Job Description
Summary: Oceaneering is a leading global provider of engineered products and services to various industries, including energy and defense. The Software Engineer I role involves learning and applying software engineering practices, working under supervision to implement engineering work, and supporting software testing in diverse environments.
Responsibilities:
- Learn and apply the software development lifecycle
- Write software at the CSU level
- Write software that adheres to the defined software architecture
- Actively interface with the software lead and team
- Communicate independently and effectively with non-software teammates for issue resolution
- Creation and maintenance of project CDRL’s. This includes requirements management, software documentation, unit testing, software safety testing, and software qualification testing
- Support software testing on the factory floor, offsite, and offshore
- Understand user requirements, concept of operations documents, and system requirements specifications
- Prepare reports and present results to fellow team members
- Schedules can be demanding throughout the year and occasional work outside normal working hours should be anticipated
Required Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- Commensurate experience will be considered
- A strong interest in robotics and/or underwater robotics
- Experience with the following programming languages: C, C++, C# and/or Java
- Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Department of Defense Security Clearance (active clearances preferred, but not prerequisite)
- Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with microprocessors and single-board computer (SBC) based control systems
- Experience analyzing communication protocols including: UDP and multicast, TCP, serial protocols, SPI, I2C, CAN, etc
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages
- Experience with Linux OS and bare metal firmware
- Experience with React, ROS or Qt
- Solid written and oral communications skills, including ability to effectively document, convey, and present engineering concepts and products to team members and customers
