Job Description
The Energy Auditor (MEP) is responsible for conducting detailed energy assessments of buildings, facilities, and MEP systems to identify opportunities for energy savings and efficiency improvements. This role involves analyzing HVAC, electrical, lighting, water, and plumbing systems, preparing energy audit reports, recommending retrofits, and supporting the implementation of energy conservation measures (ECMs) to meet sustainability goals and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive energy audits (ASHRAE Level I, II, or III) for residential, commercial, and industrial facilities.
- Inspect and evaluate HVAC, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems to determine operational efficiency and performance.
- Collect and analyze utility data (electricity, gas, water, chilled water, etc.) to establish energy baselines and identify consumption patterns.
- Perform energy modeling and simulation using software tools (e.g., eQuest, EnergyPlus, IES VE, RETScreen, or similar).
- Identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and calculate associated energy, cost savings, and payback periods.
- Prepare detailed technical reports with findings, recommendations, and financial analyses.
- Collaborate with MEP design teams to integrate energy-efficient solutions into new or retrofit projects.
- Assist in the commissioning and verification of implemented ECMs and energy management systems (EMS/BMS).
- Ensure compliance with local energy codes, green building standards, and certification programs (LEED, ESTIDAMA, ASHRAE, ISO 50001, etc.).
- Support client presentations and sustainability initiatives for energy efficiency programs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or Building Services Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Experience:
- 7 years of experience in energy auditing, building performance analysis, or MEP design.
- Proven experience with building systems and energy efficiency projects.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, lighting, electrical distribution, and plumbing systems.
- Familiarity with BMS/EMS systems and energy monitoring tools.
- Competence in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of ASHRAE standards (90.1, 62.1, 55) and ISO 50001 principles.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) – AEE
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) – AEE
- LEED AP / Green Associate
- ASHRAE or ESTIDAMA credentials
Soft Skills:
